'As a wise and great VW philosopher once said: " For Australia not to have it's own VW Magazine is in itself inexcusable, criminal and just plain dumb crazy".
Such profound thoughts created a challenge that could not be ignored. Thus, with computer under one arm and my other free hand changing the gears on my '77 Kombi Twin Cab I set about creating, not just another VW Magazine for Australia, but VW Magazine Australia.
In practical terms, publishing a national magazine on any topic is an exhausting drain on physical and financial resources, but when the subject is also a hobby and a passion, such demands are surmountable. Being one of the chosen - those who love Volkswagens - the lure of combining work and play was too strong to resist, even though my parents had warned me at an early age about having too much of any one thing. My quest became a magazine, a national magazine for the Australian Volkswagen community.

VW Magazine Australia was borne for this reason, to have an Australian enthusiasts magazine for everything VW.
It's infant months were well supported by both business and individual, and it's content provided by people keen to see another VW magazine back on the shelves. Without such enthusiasm and assistance, a magazine of any relevant content and design calibre such as this would not exist.
The single greatest advantage this new magazine has, is that it is privately owned and published by a real Volkswagen person, me - not a publishing house with titles ranging from Mushroom Harvesting to Business Monthly.
What goes into VW Magazine Australia are the genuine stories written by genuine VW owners and drivers. That's what makes it unique, and hopefully, it has the right stuff to keep it growing and improving for many years to come.'
