This is another private build, something for the twightlight years. Put the baywindow stretch down for a bit till some further research was carried out, and while that was happening, we started this air cooler limo. Powered by a 1600 twin port, L bug box, our IRS kit, adjustable springplates, drop plates and 76 backing plates and early rear drums. Up front a ball joint beam with our adjusters, T3 brakes and adapter plates for the larger wheel bolt pattern. Lots and lots of rust repairs, quite a challege, but well worth the effort now that its all steel once again. Our usual touch is to use larger longer sills to replace the standard style sills and lowered front bumper and bodywork round the front.

Long and sweet, though Im not a big splitter fan, this is turning out to be one neat bus, even for a split. Very sweet for a 65 Aussie bus.

The rust repairs on the front didnt stop until we reached the head lights, note the step in a little longer now to match the sills.
Update. 02.09.06 We are engineered and registered by the 31st of August 2006.

Interior, very basic and simple. The CD player is wired to the old HMV in the back with a pair of 7 x 9s.

Extended sills not only ad to the look of the bus by giving it a good proportion, but it ads strength while keeping the weight down.

Heater demister is required by RTA with modified vehicles, so electric units were fitted at aid the demisting.
The steering wheel is sweet and round, donated by the institute of blue dogs.
Safaris add to the cooling of the bus as well as making it look a little kooler, but they leak like crazy as they all do. Among the luggage and Eski's on the stretched roof rack is one of my old Fender Stratocasters, this one is a 71 about as ratty and vanwinkle, we call it Frankencaster.

My favourite Axe........ Its all in the name........"Fender"

Old mates......... Kruizinstein, the "original rat" shares the yard with Vanwinkle.

Vanwinkle has attended 6 shows and picked up 16 trophys. Best Rat, Top Rat, King Rat, Promoters Choice, Best Engineered several times over. Who would have thought!

But of course Chapter II in the life of "Vanwinkle" is that Van has found some new owners and moved on to South Australia to live. We hear from Van every now and again, so we'll up date the story if we hear anything soon.
Vanwinkle has a new big brother underway, hes about 50mm longer and has 19 windows and double cargo doors, yeah doors both sides. And he is earlier than Van being a mixture of 57 and 62 style buses. I'll keep you posted, sign in to see the secret project.
