An Old Flame of Robs
back

Once Upon A Time....................... sound a sleep since August 1980...........

Robs wandered in shared his dream and we set a plan of action in place.

So it started with stripping the bus bare and generally having a good look. There is some body damage and some rust.

Nothing really new about that and absolutely no surprises, just ment bigger pieces would be made up and replaced.

Whip the cargo floor out and weld in a few braces, glue some inner sills in place to put some support back.

our Big sill have been requested this time so big inners, outers and stiffeners have been fitted both sides for some strength.

Dodgey camper window gone for good and one new rear lower corner with some minor mods.

All new crossmembers and outriggers in place all new inner front guard areas now in place.

The spare wheel well was a little sad so it was replaced.

A second hand under seat section was scored and will be fitted to replace what was once crap.

new inner guard sections with new out riggers. The bigger outriggers and sills will help us setting this up to be a tow vehicle.

Rob the owner would like this to tow his small English Race car to various meets so we have that very much in mind as we

carry on the build of his once "sleeping beauty". Robs plans are a 2ltr up right motor with an L Bug box, IRS of course,

Disc brake front, drop it some with a ball joint beam with it as stock as you could really afford to leave it, yet have it go up hills.

Anyway back to the repairs...

Never found a repro front that fits so it seems faster to fab one here.

Dropping the front quart steps as we go as well to maych the sill's.

body now blasted clean time to primer and add some final touches.

Finishing touches and more finishing touches.

A big fuel tank and the start of some ventillation both make sense to me.

Well as we know these projects take time and patients for them to be done right.

Body work, preparation and some paint was in order next.

Front red brown to grey primer.

Then some white I think, likes like alabastor, but clean, how clean it that.

And some colour......... you get the picture now, its red and white, its a sweet as this.

Sweet, very very sweet.

Drool drool drool. Its just too sweet for words. I like under it better than on top. I could lie under this for days.

Well, its back here soon for the reassembly and some new brakes, its wide five for this sweet heart and trim.

Stay tuned for more of this sweet heart.
